TikTok

Due to the looming TikTok ban/uncertainty, I deleted that account. It’s not really a place for creatives anyway — I’m really not planning on posting videos about crypto or conspiracy theories.

Sorry if you were following me there.

Music

Many of you probably don’t know that throughout my teens and twenties, I both played music and worked in the industry. When I moved to Los Angeles in 2010, I tried to continue producing and songwriting, but my heart wasn’t in it anymore. I stopped going to live shows and didn’t even really listen to music for nearly a year.

Over time I’ve begun to appreciate it again, and the roots that I grew in it. I’m a self taught multi-instrumentalist, but I began with the guitar. A few months ago, I finally bought my first drum kit. I’ve never actually owned one, and rather always played whichever one was sitting in the practice space I was currently using.

This got me excited about music again, and I recently sat down to start writing. I listen to and love nearly every genre of music under the sun and get inspired in the most random places.

I started writing a few Drum & Bass tracks. I just posted my first one to SoundCloud. As time allows, I’ll probably add more and most likely various genres. Enjoy.

Let’s Connect

After taking a long social media break (for obvious mental health reasons) I decided to come back. There are some significant things happening in 2025 — more to come on that later, and it’s truly the easiest way to connect with everyone who are fans of my work.

So, in the spirit of community, let’s connect.

You can find me on:

YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@mikeracanelliart

Threads: https://www.threads.net/@mikeracanelliart

I’ll probably be cross-posting a lot but I’ll do my best to keep up.

What’s in a Year?

Well, it’s been a while.

I’ve sent out a few emails over 2024 and I’ve still been creating quite a bit. Creativity and art is a constant state of reinventing, and I feel like I’ve leaned into that a lot this year. A few website refreshes later, here we are.

Last October I deleted all of my social media accounts. I found that it was distracting, counterintuitive, and really just not a nice place to exist. I think the internet has been a net negative for humanity overall. However, I have some announcements coming up over the course of 2025 and it’s still currently the best way to get the word out. If you check out the buttons at the top right-hand corner of the site, you can link to all of my brand new accounts. If you can, give me a follow and a share.

I’ll be posting my first limited drop on the homepage sometime before the end of the year, so stay tuned. Register for my email newsletter to get notified of new pieces, events, and more. Also, I’m going to post the drops even earlier on my Patreon page along with some other member-only gifts, and I’d appreciate the support to keep creating.

Just wanted to drop a quick note, more soon.

new piece

Just put up a process video on YouTube of a brand new piece titled ‘This Is Not The Parade You Thought It Was’.

You can watch it on my YouTube channel here: https://youtu.be/5gzXKqbRF38

I documented everything from the cutting of the stretcher bars, stretching the canvas, to painting the piece. It took place over the course of a few weeks in between travel and other things I had going on in a very busy October. Thankfully I’ll be able to spend most of my time in the studio through the rest of 2023 and into the beginning of 2024.

Due to the general volatility and vitriol of social media, I no longer have a presence on the typical social media platforms. If you do use them and would like to spread the word, I’d appreciate it.
